"Many foreign students who come to the United States for their college education are affluent and privileged. This special status has numbed their spiritual appetites. Only when crisis comes, and it will, does the spiritual hunger return." This observation was communicated to me by a gastroenterologist friend who ministers to these students at a local college.
I could not help but identify with these students. I, too, have known the numbing effect to my spiritual appetite that too much success and privilege can bring. God allows challenges and crises for my own good so that hunger and thirst will be restored. Righteousness is His goal for my life, not comfort.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6 NIV
Can I look at my difficult circumstances through a lens differently? Can I see them as opportunities to stretch my faith and grow me toward righteousness?
