I heard a business speaker suggest that moving toward success required the following steps:
   A wake-up call — commitment to change
   A clear goal
Surrender — to a coach, to a system or to values
   Discipline until habit develops
It is then that success becomes common and growing becomes a regular occurrence.

The word surrender caught me by surprise. It feels vulnerable and like failure — similar to what happens at the end of a war.

Interestingly, God requires surrender of me. Surrender to God, however, is not like surrender to an enemy. Rather it is surrender to a loving God who created my life and circumstances for my good and His glory. It is a safe place.

Submit yourselves therefore to God … Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will exalt you. (James 4:7,10 ESV)

Why do I fight yielding to God? Ironically surrender to God brings unexpected peace and rest. Join me in joyful surrender this week to God and His Will for our lives.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
