Working is locked firmly into my character via German heritage genes and farm work. In fact, I love to work. However, when it comes to following Jesus my work ethic sometimes gets in the way. Hard work is not the answer. Surrender to a calling is.
…I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:1-2 NIV)
Answering God's call through absolute surrender, not work, is the solution. Only then can the Holy Spirit do His work in me. Humility, gentleness or patience cannot be gained through me striving.
It starts with surrender to Jesus. Will you join me this week falling on our knees before Him?
