A battle wages within me daily — my timetable versus God's timetable. Somehow time is a big issue with me — being on time and getting it done quickly. And I have my reasons. God's timetable doesn't usually operate that way. And He has His reasons! At the heart of the issue of timing are the purposes intended.

The purpose for my timetable is my gratification whereas the purpose of God's timetable is His Glory. His intent is transformation of me into His Likeness. My intent is totally focused on what I think I need.

Martha and Mary learned these lessons of timing when Lazarus died. (John 11:1-44) They both said,

Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
(John 11: 21, 32 NIV)

Martha and Mary were saying that if Jesus had followed their agenda of timing all would have been well. But He had transformational lessons that could not fit into their timetable — teaching the lessons of life and eternal life through the raising of Lazarus. (John 11:40)

Will you join me in trusting God's timing?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
