A battle wages within me daily…my relevance — my strong desire to be cool and accepted by my peers versus my reverence — my desire to please God and bring Him glory in all things.

I remember as a teenager not feeling culturally relevant because I was not a part of the "in crowd" in my high school. Yet I somehow survived with a loving family and a faith in Jesus who told me I had worth. Now as my life has spanned many decades, I realize that relevance is a short lived phenomenon quickly followed by irrelevance. However, reverence for God is a prelude to eternal relevance. God even shares those elements of relevance that are important to Him.

This is the one I highly esteem, he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word. (Isaiah 66:2 NIV)

I know where I want to put my energy in this battle…pleasing God!

Sharing the journey with you,
