A battle wages within me daily — holding on to my desires or letting go of them so that I can, in turn, grasp onto God's desires. In fact, many times when I hold on to my way, I am letting go of the things of God. Recent events have revealed to me that holding on to my way often brings conflict leading to bitterness and anger—not good. Letting go of what I want is scary but allows space for the things of God as He opens the door for spiritual blessings.

Jesus tried to teach this lesson to the Pharisees,

You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men. (Mark 7:8 NIV)

Holding on to the "ways of this world" (Ephesians 2:2) comes so naturally to me. Yet I long for the blessings of love, hope and peace only possible when I let go of my way and surrender to God's way.

Will you join me this week and let go?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
