I desperately want to be a man after God's own heart. Early in the morning with a cup of coffee in hand and my Bible in my lap it all seems so possible. Then my day begins. Harsh words, hurt feelings…and I haven't even left home yet! By noon I just want to give up. It is all too hard.

Would the apostle Paul encourage me to, become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of God (Ephesians 4:13 NIV), if it were not possible? Am I missing something? Yes. How can God fill me when I am still full of myself?

Where is my example for being emptied? It is in Jesus…who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself… (Philippians 2:6-7 NASB) By 4 o'clock in the afternoon, there is no hope of being filled with the fullness of God if I haven't allowed God to pour all of me out!!

Join me in permitting the work of God's Spirit to empty us so that we can live out the life of God's fullness in us.
