I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. Galatians 2:20 NIV

What is this surrender to Christ to which I am called?  In Mark 10:28 the apostle Peter says,

We have left everything to follow you!

Surrender to Jesus is a choice. I voluntarily give up the control of my life to Christ. I often see this act of surrender as negative because I like to be in control! Yet yielding control to Jesus means living life the way I was created to be – flourishing, content and joyful in Christ.

A recent conversation with a friend brought new meaning to this verse. As I asked him what Jesus had been teaching him recently. He replied that in the past he had surrendered bad habits and sin to Jesus but now Jesus was calling him to surrender all the good things in his life – his intellect, his ambitions and dreams, his family. It brought new meaning to “being all in for Jesus”, and being crucified with Christ.

I must have more than a vision of total surrender.  I must do it.  Join me this week in surrendering all to the One who loves us and gave Himself for us.

Sharing the journey with you,
