"You will never be a great cook until you can learn patience." These words from my mother reveal two things about me: I have a tendency to be impatient and I have never been a good cook. During my bachelor days, the most important culinary tool was a microwave oven. Make it hot and make it fast. I had no desire to wait. However, I found that the "fast food" was not the best for my health.

God had taught me on my journey that spiritual food is the same.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 10:31 ESV

My relationship with Jesus requires time. The slow, small and simple steps on my journey with him must be savored, not swallowed quickly.

Join me this week in savoring the goodness of God, reveling in his Word and spending unhurried time in conversation with Him.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
