Change is hard. Brain researcher, Dr. Gerhard Roth of the University of Bremen in Germany, explains why. "The brain is always trying to automate things and to create habits, which it imbues with feelings of pleasure. Holding to the tried and true gives us a feeling of security, safety and competence while at the same time reducing our fear of the future and of failure."

Jesus talked about change. He said,

I tell you the truth unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3 NIV)

In these words He says to me, "If you want to become a part of my family, Bob, and enter the Kingdom of Heaven, you cannot stay the way you are. You must change." Scripture says that first moment of change, believing and trusting Jesus, leads to a lifetime of changing that requires a child-like attitude.

Thank God He does not leave us alone in this task. Would you join me in seeking His power to change the attitudes and habits that we must change if we are to be the children of God He has called us to be?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
