I am a results-oriented guy. Give me a goal or challenge and I am quick to respond. Pursuing results is often exciting, but can at times be misleading.
William Bruce Cameron in his 1963 text Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking suggests,
"Not everything that can be counted counts. Not everything that counts can be counted."
The “results” on my resume can be counted. Yet the most important things in life—my life in Christ and my family— cannot be counted in ways that are easily measured.
Results do matter, but at times they can be deceptive. Unless the results I relentlessly pursue are for God’s purposes and His glory, I labor in vain. Join me in making sure we are pursuing the right results.
