I am in one of those seasons where I need rest for my soul. It seems everywhere I turn I am facing problems and turmoil. What to do? Seeking counsel from those who offer peace and rest often falls short.

Where to turn? In one of His prayers, Jesus offers the answer.

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. Matthew 11:25-26 NIV

It is not the “wise and learned” answers of man, but the child-like faith of those who come to Jesus that gives rest for the soul. Can it be that simple? At the end of this precious prayer, Jesus simply says,

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Matthew 11:28 NIV

Could my prideful thoughts and mind be deceiving me into thinking I need to be wiser and more learned than I could ever be? Jesus is saying, “Bob, come with your humble, child-like heart and I will give you rest for your soul.”

Will you join me this week in coming with a child-like heart to Jesus?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
