I love reading daily newspapers to keep abreast of the current affairs of the world. In addition, sports scores and summaries bring me great pleasure. In reading from the world's point of view and in my desire to be relevant, danger can be lurking — becoming overly influenced by society's viewpoint.

Engaging with the world is not bad…until it touches my heart and influences my thinking. The apostle Paul knew this danger when he warned the church at Corinth,

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.
(2 Corinthians 5:16 NIV)

In my desire to be informed, I must guard against seeking relevance in the world's eyes rather than the relevance of the Gospel — God's righteousness revealed.

Join me this week in "seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness" and everything else will find its place.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
