His presence is imposing. At six feet seven inches, his entrance into a room commands attention. His winsome, warmly engaging personality only enhances the impact of his presence. I greatly respect him and find pleasure in being in his company.

My thoughts have been on the impact of presence lately. These thoughts were initiated by a conversation suggesting that my presence, at times, creates negative pressure filled with undefined expectations and a critical air, lacking affirmation – not a good presence!

Not so with God! The presence of God in our lives is a place of safety and blessing – yielding a rich and abundant life. Moses revealed his understanding of the importance of God's presence with the enslaved children of Israel when he said,

"If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here." (Exodus 33:15 NIV)

I need the presence of God in my life. The truth is that He is present – I just don't abide with Him or look toward Him. If I did, my thoughts, words, and behavior would be different. Will you join me this week intentionally abiding with Him?

"You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."               (Psalm 16:11 NIV)

Sharing the journey with you,
