Regrets come in many flavors:

1. Some regrets require my repentance. I must do so.

2. Some regrets are caused by circumstances beyond my control. I must let go.

3. Some regrets are about risks and sacrifices not made. These intrigue me.

The story of William Borden has always been an inspiration to me. Heir to the Borden family fortune and graduate of Yale University and Princeton Seminary, he joyfully gave away his wealth and sacrificed his life in service to Jesus, dying in Egypt at the age of 26. Many could not understand and some thought his life a waste. But written in his Bible, found by his death bed, were six words which explain the life of William Borden. “No reserves, no retreats, no regrets.”

The Apostle Paul knew this same contentment and life without regret because he understood Jesus’ message.

If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it. Matthew 10:39 NLT

The circumstances of life brought about by the risks and sacrifices of following Jesus left Paul without regret.

Join me in living a regret-free life of risk, sacrifice and service to our Master.
