A recent trip to Tennessee had a specific purpose…to raise funds for the ministry of International Health Services. I used my Global Positioning System (GPS) to get where I needed to go. Serving as my navigator, my friend Gábor entered each new destination's address before we began our journey. There were detours on the way filled with fun and necessity. (I especially enjoyed our visit to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo Museum). However, we never lost sight of our destination and our journey's purpose.

Spiritually, I don't want to lose sight of my destination. In Psalm 23, David says,

…and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6 NIV)

My spiritual GPS needs to be set for Home. Living in this foreign land, there are detours on the way to my Father's house. Some of the detours are filled with fun and some are filled with difficulty. However, I do not want to lose sight of my final destination – Heaven. In fact, the purpose of my journey is to allow God to prepare me for my Eternal Home with Him – minimizing the culture shock when I get there!

Join me this week in making sure that our spiritual GPS is set for Home and that we do not lose our way.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
