A few years ago while reading the newspaper in my Budapest office I shared with a Hungarian colleague an interesting news story. His response startled me. He was extremely skeptical. In fact, he suggested that I was gullible to believe anything I read in a newspaper. His experience in the former Soviet Union taught him that searching for truth in a newspaper was futile.

This month my thoughts returned to that discussion when I read the following sign in front of The Parish Church of St. Saviour’s in Great Moor, England: "What if . . . everything Jesus said was true? Would that change anything?" Where we search for Truth makes all the difference!

Can I trust what Jesus said? "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30) God knew that there would be skeptics and doubters. So He did the unimaginable, unthinkable. He came to verify His trustworthiness. A trustworthy God lay in that manger.

How can we respond? "O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!"
