Do you want to get well? John 5:6b
Are you kidding me? Jesus is asking an invalid of 38 years whether he wanted to be well. But Jesus, as always, was digging deeper than this man's physical struggles; He was concerned about all the areas of this man's life.
God asks questions and offers choices.
…I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. Deuteronomy 30:15-19
My well-being is linked to my choice to love the LORD and walk in obedience to Him. When I do this, I choose life and evidence my desire to be well.

Dear God, we want to choose life and its blessings. Help us through your Holy Spirit to turn away from all that leads away from you.
