A major airline recently revealed that the seats in economy class would be placed closer together. I thought the seats were already too tight. Of course, the airline that made that announcement is the airline I most frequently fly. Sometimes the hospitality industry is just not hospitable.

But hospitality is not just for hotels, restaurants, and airlines. Scripture calls me to hospitality.

Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.                                                                                        Romans 12:13 NIV

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1 Peter 4:9 NIV

The journey of life provides opportunities to be hospitable to friends and family, and sometimes strangers. But do I grumble sometimes? Like any act of service, it can be inconvenient or difficult. Do I view hospitality as an opportunity to share the presence of Christ at my dinner table or in my office at work? Could it be one of the antidotes to our crude, uncivil society?

Join me this week in finding ways to practice hospitality.

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
