People use varying financial strategies depending upon economic conditions to accomplish a positive Return On Investment (ROI). Some strategies yield much; some strategies yield nothing or less than nothing! Hindsight tells me whenever my ROI is nothing or less than nothing that wrong strategies have been employed.
Is heavenly investment any different? Whenever I invest in my work, relationships or service without divine directive, its yield in heavenly accounting is NOTHING. That cannot be possible, or can it? Jesus, sharing his views on heavenly investing, says,
…apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5 NIV)
The Apostle Paul shared a similar assessment of spiritual investing. Doing great things for God without love is a poor spiritual investment strategy.
…but have not love, I gain nothing. (I Corinthians 13:3 NIV)
