Life is difficult! At times nothing seems easy. In fact, it can become drugery – menial tasks, the toils of everday life, the pain, and the "why me?" situations. Yet, I read that:

…the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10 NIV

Why, at times, does this joy escape me and cause my strength to wane?

Because my mind and heart are not turned toward Jesus who is the antidote to drudgery or pain. The mundane becomes celebration and life's pains become bearable when I consider His love and purposes. The more that I know and love Him and understand the hope I have in Him, the more the sense of drudgery or the spear of pain morphs into a joy deep in my soul.

Jesus gave me an example as He washed His disciples' dirty feet. A typical "act of drudgery" was wrapped in great love and purpose.

Will you join me this week in plumbing into the depth of joy that God gives, so that we can face the mundane and pain with a strength that comes only from God?

Sharing the journey with you,
