A former colleague of mine is now the Dean of Diversity at a major university medical school. I assume one the of the challenges is finding unity in the midst of various ethnicities, ideologies and creeds. Most secular answers have to do with education and retraining the mind. Yet, it is at times not enough for unity.

Christians are an amazingly diverse group gathered around a common faith in Jesus. Jesus is our glue. Yet, we know that disunity among believers exists—sad. We have not learned that disagreement does not have to be the fodder for lack of unity. Education and retraining of the mind can be helpful. But the condition of the heart is the essence of unity.

John saw perfect unity as heaven opened up to him.

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  Rev. 7:9 NIV

What brings us together? Our love, surrender and worship of the Lamb – our God and Savior. With our hearts joined together, there is unity in diversity. Praise God.

Will you join me this week united in worship of the Risen Lamb?

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
