Are you like me in finding it easier to love "Humanity" – the world, rather than loving "humanity" – my brother and sister? In 1 John 3:16, the apostle John points out the need to be ready to give up my life for my brothers and sisters. This sacrifice is not a daily opportunity for me. However, in the next verse John says,

If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion – how can God's love be in that person? 1 John 3:17 NLT

I fail the test of love when I choose to love everyone in general, but no one in particular. True love is not experienced mile-by-mile, but inch-by-inch in the daily nitty-gritty of life.

Will you join me? This is a test we must not fail!

Sharing the journey with you,

Bob Snyder
