I used to think that hope was a feeling of expectation and desire for something good. For instance, as a young boy I hoped for ice cream after my Little League baseball games. This kind of hope was not always reliable.

In growing up, trusting God and committing to following Jesus, my definition of hope has changed. Now, “my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness” as the hymn proclaims. This is a reliable hope. It is one that allows us to wait with patience and confidence.

We were given this hope when we were saved… Romans 8:24a NLT

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. Romans 5:5a NLT

So why do I waiver when God is the source of my hope?

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he promised and not carried it through? Numbers 23:19 NLT

Join me this week, patiently and confidently trusting in God – a hope worth waiting for!!
