I used to think that hope was a feeling of expectation and desire for something good. For instance, as a young boy I hoped for ice cream after my Little League baseball games. This kind of hope was not always reliable.

In growing up with a trust in God and commitment to follow Jesus my definition of hope has changed. Now, "my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness," as the hymn proclaims. This is a reliable hope. It is one that allows us to wait with patience and confidence.

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Romans 8:25 NIV

So why do I waiver when God is the source of my hope?

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19 NIV

Join me this week in patiently and confidently trusting in God – a hope worth waiting for!
